Colonial Country Club

The PGA Tour is back to Texas for the Charles Schwab Challenge.

After a week up North in Rochester, NY for the PGA Championship, the tour is in Fort Worth for the 77th Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club.

3After a rough weather week in Rochester, this week the tour is going to have nice mid 80’s and a slight Texas wind.

The Colonial Country Club has been the host of this event since 1946 and has proven to be one of the shortest courses on the tours circuit and usually ranks in the top ten of toughest.

This is well-known as Ben Hogan’s favorite track. Usually, a player outside of the long bombers can stay in contention with precision from the fairway into the greens.

Looking at what golfers have a chance this week, you have to start with Jordan Speith ( 2000). He has dominated Colonial during his career with 8 Top Ten’s, three second-place finishes, and one win.

If his wrist is healthy, as it seemed to be last week, he has a good shot to win this thing with his elite wedge play. The betting favorite Scottie Scheffler ( 400) is coming off a second-place finish at the PGA and hasn’t finished outside of the top 15 in what feels like a year.

Others to look at would be Tommy Fleetwood ( 3300). He is a great ball striker and has the creativity with his wedges to show out at a place like Colonial. He is coming off a top twenty at the PGA, and he provides great odds. Collin Morikawa ( 1600) is also someone to look at for this week.

He has widely been considered the best iron player in the world for a while. If he can find fairways and make an average amount of 10-15’ putts he will find himself in contention this week.

Lastly, look for another Rickie Fowler ( 2800) top ten ( 275). He has been around all year and could be worth the investment. Maybe even a breakthrough?
