Hayden Buckley Eagles Way to Lead Sony Open, Hawaii| News Article by Scratchcaddy.com

Double swings have brought Hayden Buckley to place at the top of the leaderboard by a two-shot lead in the Sony Open, Hawaii, on Saturday. There was an eight-way tie for the lead at a single point. Buckley shot two eagles on the back nine to send him to 6 under 64 and allowed him marginal point differences at Waialae.

One of the shots wedged assumably to a left pin at no. 10, one of the easiest on the course from 133 yards. But the ball landed perfectly. Buckley said that he wasn’t sure where it was going, and perhaps he pulled the shot a bit more.

Another was among his best of the day, which he pulled from 221 yards, a 5-iron that went to a 2 feet distance from the front left pin on the par five 18th hole.

Anyway, pars were frequently accumulating, with birdies being occasional showoffs. According to Buckley, everything was according to the plan, and they generated the eagle as planned.

It is his first run for the PGA Tour title in the second full year. He started from 15 under 195.

The final group will consist of Ben Taylor (65) and David Lipsky (66), both starting with no PGA title. Lipsky has the Asian Tour, the European Tour, the Sunshine Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour in his bag.

Nine of the top 15 players in Hawaii are going for their first PGA title.

Chris Kirk was just two shots away. In the third round, he was leading the table by one shot. Two years ago, with his runner-up performance, he was promoted to the complete status of the PGA tour. His first shot of the open led to a double bogey as he pulled out of bounds at the right side of the first fairway.

He began with remarkable resilience. Though, a 6-foot birdie set him back on the 18th that might send him to finals. Kirk won his last tour in 2015 at Colonial. He had gone to rest in the past to treat his alcoholism. His tie in the second position in the Sony Open was enough to hold his full status.

Lipsky opened sluggishly to settle outside the white stakes after dropping on the left side’s cemented path. Jordan Spieth and Rory Sabbatini also shuffled the leaderboard after misses and bogeys. S.H. Kim and Byeong Hun An are also in the contest for the top position.
